In addition to the major grant award as project
leader/principal researcher from the National
Endowment for the Arts, I have received two significant grants through the
University of Texas that were crucial in the development of my research profile.
 | The first of these was a Summer Research
Assignment (SRA) through the UT Vice-President for Research Office over
the Summer of 1997. This work on MIDI control for stage
machinery was the first project devoted to this aspect of theatre
technology, and was crucial in helping identify the course of future
investigation. |
| Microsoft Corporation, through the UT College of Fine Arts and its Center
for Advanced Studies in the Arts (CASA) funded a
CASAbbatical. This semester leave in Spring of 2000 allowed both
time and equipment resources to develop the first production ready version of
the PC-based controller. |
