Research @ UT

Several projects were researched and funded at UT Austin through various grants including a CASAbbatical research leave for one semester funded by the Microsoft Corporation and  a Summer Research Assignment (SRA) through the Office of the Vice President and Graduate Dean at UT Austin.

In addition to the grant proposals and work with the Alley Theatre and Steppenwolf, the following pages detail projects developed directly from these opportunities--

bulletThe Automated Body project as part of the 2001 New Works Festival in the Department of Theatre and Dance. This was the first large-scale1`1        Q1`1QA use of
this technology in a University of Texas production.

bulletA simple PC-based controller for Home on the Mornin' Train. This production
used a simple data acquisition card, and was the first UT production to use
the automation technology to move a tracked piece of scenery.

bulletMIDI Control of Stage Machinery. This Summer Research Assignment
project was my very first look at using automation technology on stage.
Although no production application resulted from the effort, the research
established the basis for all future work in stage automation at UT.
