PC Control of Theatre Stage Machinery:

A $183,000 matching project funded in the amount of $70,000 by the National Endowment for the Arts in collaboration with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company--Chicago, IL

I am the project leader and principle investigator for Steppenwolf's efforts for this project. Its goal is to build and install a PC-based control system for theater stage machinery at the Steppenwolf Theatre that:

bulletutilizes the existing and affordable industrial-control components recently available as a result of advances in microprocessor control and power electronics,
bulletintegrates the technology currently used by theater practitioners, and
bulletserves as a  highly flexible system that promote a wide range of artistic experimentation.
