Mother Courage

Even as development of the project was just starting, the first Steppenwolf production to utilize the technology was Mother Courage and Her Children in the Fall of 2001.

The automation requirement for Mother Courage was a single axis of control for a full-stage revolve. The controller I developed for this application had to--

Allow for unlimited revolutions in both directions of rotation (see the control panel)

Interface with existing drive equipment, and

Be available for technical rehearsals within three weeks of our notification of the grant award.

The production and the control technology was also detailed in an article in Entertainment Design magazine in March 2002.
