Responsibility for the Project

Prof. Schwentker will serve as the Project Leader for the application of Pc-Based Control For Theater Stage Machinery to Steppenwolf productions. His expertise in technical theater coupled with his knowledge of computer operating systems will guide us in determining appropriate hardware, in building applicable software and in training of operating personnel. Working closely with Claude Binder, Steppenwolf General Manager, who will serve as the Project Manager and primary contact at the theater, Prof. Schwentker will oversee the building of associated control equipment and, through training, will facilitate the adaptation and expansion of our existing practices of stagecraft and scenic fabrication.

A full-time technician will be hired by Steppenwolf to participate in this project. This individual will work directly with Prof. Schwentker in the development of the system and will be the operator of the system during performances once the system is established. We foresee that this position will also be involved in training additional staff and monitoring the function of the system for a variety of our Mainstage shows.
